BETWEEN BLACK

yoga.

I have started to write a post about yoga more times than is necessary. Something always comes between me and the writing and trying to say all the things I want to say. I will come home after a lovely class and try to sum up my perfect feelings of contentedness into a neat little box and hope that it sounds as amazing as I feel. It usually doesn’t. That is sort of how I feel about yoga. Something intangible that I try to describe and usually lack the words/vocabulary/confidence to write it.

So here we go. Today. Don’t try to be where you want to go, being where you are is more important. It is hard to be still. For everyone. It is easy to judge yourself and your perceived weaknesses. Patience and kindness for yourself is the best thing you can do for today and tomorrow.

Yoga is moving with breath. It is turning in for a moment. It is connecting with your body. It is the Ohm that brings you into class and sends you off.

It seems so cliche, all of this, but aren’t cliche’s the most true statements we’ve come to know, think and say more than we care to admit?

I am a wandering person by nature. I crave change and variables and disruptions in life’s rhythm to go forward and to feel. Yoga grounds me more than I think it does. I thank myself for what brought me here, even though those memories are hard and shameful to think of, I needed that push, those variables, to bring me to the mat.
